IV Bangalore - The never ending fun

Disclaimer: Please do not mind about the size of the article, as this article is concerned with memories and not size.

The never ending fun that we were longing to enjoy started during our first year itself. During the midst of the second year, we planned for a three days IV to Bangalore. But at the last moment it was canceled due to our improper planning. Our second attempt to the IV also failed more or less due to the same reason. It was our tutor who spoke to the principal saying, "unless and otherwise everyone pass in the semester, don't allow them sir". It was like adding fuel to our flame. But then we accepted the hard truth that we were lagging in studies and dropped the plan with a heavy heart. From then all the students in our class were very hopeless and some even decided not to plan anything as it is a waste of time.

In the third year, with the new hopes of our IV coordinators Ashvin from boys and Jeya Bala from girls, our quest for an IV to Bangalore started with a bang.

A tourist bus from Kerala with disco light arrangements was set to start from the girls hostel by 8.30 p.m on 5th August 2015 after our distributed systems internal test in the afternoon. The bus finally started by 9.30 p.m from girls hostel. All my classmates boarded the bus at Ukkadam and Gandhipuram and I was the last before person to get into the bus as I boarded the bus near my home. I bid bye to my Brother-in-law who dropped me and sneaked into the bus. Mrs. Lavanya mam with her sweet daughter Beulah and Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari mam who accompanied us were busy with the verification list of the students. I sat in a triple seater between my friends Kanjari in the right and Harshi in the left. The last person to get into the bus was our dear friend smiling Kavya. She was welcomed with the trademark song of Kanjari, "MALARGALAE" with her own composition and the wrongly pronounced Tamil words in chorus.

After checking the bus started with the 'Mahamaayi', a devotional beat song. The whole bus burst into laughter on hearing this. It didn't take a very long time for us to get into dance mode. The enthusiasm spread so quickly that most of us in the bus started dancing as one would dance in a DJ party. The lighting in the bus added color to our DJ.

Our level of enthusiasm was at peak that not even a single person in the bus slept till 2 a.m. As everyone didn't have sufficient place to dance, some of us were climbing up and sitting on the headrests of the seats. The howling, whistling, laughing, fun, dance etc n etc.., continued beyond 2 a.m in the night. Everyone in the bus got settled down and dozed off with the dreams of the next day masti.

By 4 a.m in the midnight, I felt like am being squeezed and only then I woke up to see that I was running short of space as Harshi has fell asleep on me. I shook her twice but sooner I realized that it's going to be an impossible task for me. With the idea of Kanjari I successfully jumped to the back seat and dozed off between Pooja and Padma. Me and Padma didn't feel sleepy that we were chatting for a long time after which we slept unknowingly.

By 7.30 in the morning we woke up one by one and found that we were in the border of Bangalore. We called home and informed our parents. As the driver was from Kerala, he didn't know routes of Bangalore and so we rounded the Lalbagh garden road nearly three times before heading to the hotel room in Majestic. All of us were very hungry and so our unbrushed teeth were served with 5star chocolates. By 9.00 in the morning we reached our hotel rooms. In some rooms, 4 were allotted, some 5 and some 6 depending on the size of room and the gang of friends. Me, harshi, kanjari, pooja and menon took up a room in the fourth floor. Indra, Abi, smiling Kavya, kaviya.k, Niha and Padma were provided a room in the third floor and so our gang were split into two. I think mam already had a clue that it will be a tough job for her to handle us if we were given rooms in the same floor and that's why we were given rooms in different floors.

As soon as we entered the room, our fun started. All four except me are dancers in my room and so it was my part to take videos of their funny dance. The first one to take bath in my room was PJ after which the funny lungi dance session started. Menon's favourite song was dandanaka naka song which she almost sang even during her deep sleep. Finally we got ready by 11 a.m. Ordered dosas and parathas for breakfast and left the room by 11.30 a.m. we were informed priorly that we will visit the JVS electronics company on the first day and from afternoon we will spend time in wonderla theme park. But when we came down everything was in a mess and so we were waiting in the reception for nearly half an hour waiting for our mam to decide. Finally mam decided to visit the company first and then spend time in Bangalore's famous iskon temple.

The JVS company was located near wonderla theme park. While entering the company, I was wondering, whether am I entering an electricals company or a resort. More than the training session, we thoroughly enjoyed the climate and the infra inside the company. It was drizzling by the time we came out which added a scenic beauty to the company. But, unfortunately we weren't allowed to take pic inside the campus. When we came out of the company it was past 2'o clock. Everyone of us were hungry. As soon as we captured a group photo, the complete foodie inside us came out that we were standing near a panipuri wala and gulping puris one after another. Our next plan for the day was to visit iskon temple after a heavy lunch. We got into the bus and after the usual checking, Bangalore days film was played. As everyone in the bus were tired we choose to play a film. Each one of us were watching the film as it is screened for the first day first show.

Spending time in iskon temple is a blissful experience. I personally love lord Krishna for his looks and mischiefs as a young one which draws everyone's attention and that is the main reason why chotta bheem series is famous among kids. We were asking mam continuously for biriyani and as it got late and everyone was tired, biriyani plans were postponed to the next day. As soon as we entered room fun and masti of dance lasted a little long after which we slept.

On the next day morning, we all were fresh and excited as we had planned for wonderla on that day. Me and Harshi didn't know that its going to be one of our worst day. First we went to Cegonsoft company after which we went to wonderla. Beulah was hanging out with me with her hands around my shoulders saying, u look like a seventh std girl akka. It was my first time to wonderla that I had a strong and a burning desire that, this time I must try all dry games and water games. We completed most of the dry games and started with water games. The wave pool and the rain dance would be one's most favorite. It was the second time we entered rain dance. It was very dark inside. In the shimmering lights and heavy downpour we weren't able to see clearly what is happening around. It was then the worst thing happened. Suddenly Harshi knelt down and wailed saying she isn't able to walk. Two or three of our classmates too surrounded us. To avoid a mess, I took her out and called for the mam. Initially we all thought that it was a sprain. She was more worried about the flash mob dance by our college team to be held next week. After a small first aid, while leaving from there, Ashvin arranged for a wheelchair for her to get into the bus. His care towards us was so heart melting that every girl would love to have such a brother in her life.

On the way back to hotel room, Bangalore days was played. None of us wanted to get down the bus and go to the hotel room as everyone was mouthwatering seeing Nazriya onscreen. The veggies were left at the hotel room and the rest went in search of nonveg hotels. While returning, Harshi was waiting with her pain for the biriyani and her love for food is so obvious here. Everyone fell asleep soon out of the tiredness. The next day plans was to visit the vishweshwaraya museum and shopping in the Chickpet roads. As Harshi wasn't able to walk longer distance she was left under the care of PJ and Kanjari in the garden before the museum and rest of us went in. The museum was amazing. It will be very useful for the students community. The time spent there was worth the visit to Bangalore. By 12.30 we took a group photo and left the museum. In most of our girl's hands were the soap water with which we were blowing bubbles. Though it was kiddish we all enjoyed playing with it.

The next target was shopping in the Chickpet roads. I said that I'll be there to accompany Harshi and said her let's stay in bus till everyone returns. Harshi started crying saying, I want chappals and that is the only reason why I said okie to a Bangalore IV. The complete shopping spree in her came out and we roamed through the roads of Chickpet and Majestic with Janarthanan, our friend as company and got our things done.

Finally by evening we reached the point where mam had already informed us to assemble and were waiting. A hand from back came front and covered my eyes with a voice saying.. "yaarunu sollu paapom?" Harshi was shouting in joy as lallu akka and it was my same sweet senior Lalithpriya akka with her friends. That one hour spent with our seniors brought in us some good old memories. I am sure that the wonderla, shopping, and our seniors are the first thing that will pop up first in our mind when we think about the IV after some years. The funny dance videos, pics and memories will be treasured forever.
By Sunday morning 4.00 a.m on 9th August 2015 we reached back to Coimbatore to catch up the with Behrouz A.Forouzan on networking. And later that night got to know from Harshi that she is suffering from a ligament tear. Hope she recovers soon. With the dreams and plans for the next IV we are eagerly waiting for the next team work. Sometimes it takes some special place and time to understand our friends and for sure it is Bangalore for IT-A (2013-2017).
